GARLAND Expand Management Team

GARLAND have recently strengthened our management team to accommodate the ongoing strategic growth of the company.

Sarah Ryan and Michael Fleming have recently been appointed as Associates and join Simon Dunne who was appointed as Regional Director in Waterford in October 2017.

Simon Dunne, Regional Director

Simon is a Chartered Structural Engineer with the Institution of Structural Engineers and Engineers Ireland and sits on the IStructE Design Practice Risk and Structural Safety Committee. He has recently completed his term as Secretary for the Republic of Ireland Regional Group and remains a sitting member of the Regional Group committee.

Simon has a particular interest in Building Information Modelling and aside from having completed numerous project to BIM Level 2 he is a qualified Project Information Manager, Task Information Manager and has presented to the Construction IT Alliance on the BIM Level 2 adoption of the National Children’s Hospital Ireland.

Originally from Wexford and educated in Waterford, Simon is delighted to be bringing his young family back to the Sunny South East.

Sarah Ryan, Associate

Sarah Ryan has an honours degree in Civil Engineering from University College Cork and a Master’s Degree (Distinction) in Flood Risk Management from the University of Newcastle in the UK. She has over 16 years’ experience as a consulting engineer on major civil engineering projects in Ireland and Internationally. Sarah is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (CWEM) in both Ireland and the UK. In 2017 she was the sole recipient of an honorary annual membership of the British Hydrological Society for her master’s degree results at the University of Newcastle. Sarah leads the GARLAND Civil Engineering and Flood Management Team’s.

Michael Fleming, Associate

Michael leads the GARLAND compliance team. This includes our services as Assigned Certifier under the Building Control Amendment Regulations and our Project Supervisor Design Process services under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations. This is a rapidly growing area for the company and Michael has firmly established himself as one of the leading professionals in this field in Ireland. He is a chartered engineer with a post graduate diploma in Health & Safety form Trinity College Dublin.
