Le Cheile Secondary School in Tyrellstown has been shortlisted in the Elemental category at the Irish Concrete Awards. The School has over 300 boys and girls from a diverse cultural background. We were delighted to provide Civil & Structural and Project Supervisor Design Process services on this project.

The project consisted of a 10,000M² 27 Classroom Secondary School. This Design and Build project involved the construction of a Special Educational Needs Unit and Sensory Garden, Specialist Rooms, Support Teaching Spaces, Administration Areas, Physical Education Hall, Changing Facilities, All-weather Playing Pitch and 3G Lightings, Car Park, Landscaping, New Access Road, Associated Footpaths and Street Lighting.

While construction was mainly steel frame with brick and block cavity wall construction, the specialised special needs unit was constructed from pre-cast concrete. The school was designed as a low energy use building and makes use of renewable energy sources such as PV.

This project had previously won Education Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry awards in 2018.

The Irish Concrete awards will be held on 30th March.
