New rules on the validity of Safe Pass cards

Earlier in the year the Government published a regulation setting out expiry dates for the validity of certain Safe Pass cards, this regulation was signed in to law on October 13^th 2021.

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (SI528/2021) stipulate the following:

-       Where the four year period of the Safe Pass card expired between March 1 2020 and October 31^st 2020, the registration of the card shall be regarded as valid for a period of five years and eleven months (71 months) from the date of completion of the program in respect of which it was issued.

-       Where the four year period of the Safe Pass card expired between November 1^st 2020 and October 13^th 2021, the registration of the card shall be regarded as valid for a period of five years and two months (62 months) from the date of completion of the program in respect of which it was issued.
