Project Description

As part of the greater SOBO District development in the Dublin Docklands, the 2WML project consisted of a full refurbishment of the former Hanover Building. A full stripout of partitions, fixtures, and all electrical and mehcanical services was undertaken. The 5 storeys and basement were fully refurbished and a vertical extension was also constructed, consisting of an additional upper floor.

Existing structural floors, walls, columns and stairs were retained, except for a raised plant area slab that was removed and reinstated a level above existing. ESB substation and HV cables were relocated and connected to a newly constructed substation on Hanover Street East. The existing attentuation tank was demolished and replaced with a newly constructed tank within the basement area. The basement vehicular access ramp was penetrating into the car parking basement in the neighbouring buiding (1 WML) and constructing vehicular access routes to form a combined basement.

The project was completed within the forecast €8m budget. 
2 WML is officially LEED Gold Certified.
