Project Description
The project involved the construction of a new two storey 2,015m2 building within an existing live technology park. A 105m2 detached boiler house was also constructed to the south of the main building.
The building, of concrete frame construction, was designed for 8 individual units, but the flexible open plan design will allow the client to tailor the building to suit tenant requirements. The building has been designed with sustainability and future flexibility (in terms of the internal layout and infrastructure) as priorities. The building will be naturally ventilated and contains a high specification automatic window control system and brise-soleil to manage internal temperatures. The external walls of the building are single leaf, with a 170mm thick external insulation render system.
This project also involved the upgrading of the existing car parking areas and the provision of new car parking areas behind building No. 1 and in front of the new Building 3. The car parking and road areas consist of an attenuated permeable paving system. The car parking works were carried out in a phased basis to ensure sufficient car parking numbers are available to existing users during the works.
