Project Description
The two-storey County Circuit Courthouse in Limerick is a protected building. In 2002 a need for refurbishment was identified and Garland were commissioned to provide civil and structural engineering services. The project included refurbishment of the existing building and the creation of an additional storey to provide office space. Works included demolition of the existing roof, ground and first floors, and the construction of a new suspended ground floor, composite steel and concrete two-storey structure, and a cantilevered boardwalk on the quay wall. The new layout featured a glazed well in the atrium and natural ventilation provided by passive ventilation stacks.
