Project Description

The project involved the construction of a new 750 pupil Post Primary School for the newly formed Temple Carrig Secondary School over 3 storeys. The site is located on the Blacklion Road in Greytsones adjacent to an existing Primary School Campus and is on a steeply sloping site. Due to the nature of the site, the building is stepped over a number of levels. Necessitating the requirement for significant quantity of reinforced concrete retaining walls as part of the buildings structure. In addition to the typical blockworks and concrete construction, there are elements of exposed glulam installation which were bespoke designed and manufactured for the school. The project included the construction of a temporary school building and associated works to facilitate a September 2014 enrolment, whilst works to the permanent building were maintained. As part of the works, there was a full size all-weather floodlit hockey pitch constructed within the school’s grounds. Furthermore, the external landscape design incorporates significant external learning provision.
