Project Description

Phase 1, of this construction, serves 15ha of development lands for housing at Shannon Town. The project consisted of the construction of a 0.6km of 7.3m-wide single carriageway together with three roundabouts, street lighting, footpaths and cycle tracks together with associated sewers, drains, watermains, rising mains, street lighting, fencing and gas, electrical and telecommunication duct networks.  Also included were diversions of an existing 450mm dia. trunk main and a 375mm dia. foul sewer rising main.  The road has 10m-wide margins on each side for services. The soils consisted mainly of alluvial silts and estuarine clays with pockets of organic material (Peat).
