Project Description
As part of the Government of Mauritius’ regional development programme, Garland completed a Feasibility Study for the West Coast Water Project for the towns of Flic-en-Flac and Bambous. Flic-en-Flac encompassed existing tourist facilities and new tourist developments aimed at attracting further investment and increasing levels of economic sustainability in the region. The main objective of the feasibility study was to arrive at the best alternative for a sewerage and sewage treatment scheme for the West Coast Region with a view to the protection of public health, sanitation, the protection and improvement of terrestrial and marine ecology, and the maintenance of the sustainable development of the West Coast Region. The consultants were also required to review and make recommendations with a view of alleviating flooding in Flic-en-Flac and its surrounding environment. The firm further reviewed the possibility of including the adjacent towns of Tamarin and Wolmar into the sewage infrastructure system.
