Project Description

The project involved the refurbishment and extension to an old school building in Cappamore to provide library and art studio facilities.

The new Library and Arts Studios is the first library in Limerick to be 100% self-service. The building is a key element of the 2014 Limerick City of Culture programme and was designed with sustainability and environmentally friendly installations. The building is heated by a biomass burner unit incorporating recyclable wood shavings as a fuel source and the overall building design is orientated to maximise solar heat and reduce heat loss.
